You Are Not Alone

It’s scary to think your child might be using drugs or alcohol. It’s even scarier to confirm that fear and find out your childis using. Where can you go to discuss your fears, or get help? As parents and caregivers, we can allow fear and shame to overwhelm, isolate and keep us from getting the help and support so desperately needed. The Partnership at DrugFree.org is changing that with You Are Not Alone.
DrugFree.org has created a new campaign to address the issues of fear, isolation and shame that parents and caregivers can feel when dealing with their child’s drug and alcohol abuse and addictions.
The campaign helps parents understand that they are not alone, it’s not their fault and most importantly – their child can recover.  You Are Not Alone connect families and parents with others that have traveled a similar path. Often times just knowing that someone else has traveled the same path and is “okay” is tremendously helpful to someone that is struggling to cope with frightening circumstances.
You Are Not Alone is dedicated to supporting the 11 million American families whose teens need treatment for drug and alcohol abuse - 1 in 7 teens!
The campaign  connects families and parents struggling with a child’s addiction with other families and parents that have walked that path - and can help give them the courage and support they need to help their child.
The goal of the campaign – movement – is to lower the barriers families face in getting teens the treatment and recovery support they need. Because we can’t give up. Because we have to have hope. Hope that our child will get better, recover and live a life filled with all the dreams we had for them when we first held them in our arms. Hope.
You Are Not Alone.
